Qikiqtarjuaq Gathering House

The Hamlet of Qikiqtarjuaq commissioned the design and fabrication of cultural heritage and interpretive displays for the new community gathering house and visitor services centre, including indoor and outdoor display areas. The design incorporates artwork and artefacts made in the community through a cooperative program with artists and crafts people. The interpretive storylines move from the natural environment to the historic period of Inuit cultural development in the region around Qikiqtarjuaq, and concludes with the community’s vision for their future. The building’s program includes a sales area for local arts and a gathering room for Elders.
