Heidi Metcalfe

Heidi is an urban Inuk with family roots in Nunatsiavut (Northern Labrador). A former National Aboriginal Role Model, she is one of the founders of the Ottawa Inuit Children’s Centre now called Inuuqatigiit, which empowers Inuit families in Ottawa with many programs and services. Heidi is currently the Administration and Human Resources Officer at NVision Insight Group Inc. She is a fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society and volunteers on numerous boards and committees, including the Ontario Aboriginal Housing Support Services, Proposal Review Committee. A former Foster parent, Heidi has had a hand in raising many Inuit children, currently raising 2. Heidi spends much of her free time as a ‘Cultural Ambassador’ performing Inuit Throatsinging, drumming, ayaya singing and demonstrating Inuit games, locally, nationally and internationally.
