Director, Business Development
You've spent at least five years leading business development, sales-oriented marketing and communications, consulting, Indigenous relations, advisory services, or something close to it — with real responsibility for growth, not just support of it. You've secured projects and clients in multiple sectors, and you write and support successful proposals. You understand Indigenous governance, reconciliation, and First Nations, Inuit, and Métis realities and approaches. You have worked with and built a strong reputation with Indigenous communities across Canada.
You can set a growth strategy for the firm. You can sit down and draft a proposal yourself. You can read financial statements to inform your decisions (but advanced accounting expertise is not required).
You're patient and respectful. You know that in this work the relationship comes first.
We encourage applications from qualified Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) candidates. Preference will be given to Indigenous candidates as part of a special program established under Section 14 of the Ontario Human Rights Code.
We encourage applications from people who have:
- • 5+ years of leadership experience in business development or a closely related field.
- • Proven ability to build strong relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous clients.
- • Experience working with senior leadership teams and reporting to a Board of Directors.
- • Deep understanding of Indigenous governance, reconciliation, and community-centred development contexts in Canada.
- • Experience with federal, provincial, territorial, municipal, and private-sector procurement processes — RFPs, RFQs, and SOAs.
- • Experience with Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
Applications are requested by August 28, 2026; however, applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Applications will be evaluated upon submission.
