“We have described for you a mountain. We have shown you the path to the top. We call on you to do the climbing.”

Senator Murray Sinclair (former Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission)

Senator Sinclair’s Call to Action is a challenge to every Canadian, a powerful reminder that true reconciliation and a healthy relationship between Canada and Indigenous peoples must begin with understanding.

NVision has been introducing corporations, government departments and the public to Indigenous history and culture for years. We are proud to introduce The Path: Your Journey Through Indigenous Canada™, a unique new learning experience.

What is The Path?

The Path is a series of five online modules. Topics include the cultural and historical differences between First Nations, Inuit, and Métis; the evolution of the relationship between Canada and Indigenous people from pre-contact to yesterday’s headlines; stories of social and economic success, reconciliation and resilience; tips, both funny and serious, for successful intercultural communication in the workplace; and much more. With videos, quizzes, music and animation, The Path is lively, entertaining, and engaging.

Here’s a sneak peek at Module 1, Topic 1

Who should take The Path?

  • Anyone in a company that works with Indigenous communities or organizations, or employs an Indigenous work force
  • Anyone working in a government department, from federal to municipal, that provides programs and services to Indigenous peoples
  • Anyone working with a not for profit organization or foundation committed to social, cultural, economic or political development
  • Anyone committed to creating a stronger Canada, a more compassionate Canada, and a Canada of empowered Indigenous communities.

What makes The Path different?

  • It’s designed by NVision, Canada’s largest Indigenous consulting firm, owned and operated by First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
  • It’s the only course of its kind to focus in equal depth on all three Indigenous peoples recognized in the Canadian Constitution, with modules on Inuit and Métis.
  • It was created by our team of educators and instructional designers–leaders in online learning–and combines solid adult learning principles with innovative approaches to web-based content delivery.
  • The course can be customized with industry or regional-specific elements to better meet the needs of your organization.

We also deliver custom-built in-person half or full-day workshops based on “The Path”. NVision can provide a unique “blended” learning option, combining live, real-time delivery by an instructor and guest presenters to learners connected online, anywhere in the world. Whatever your learning needs, we will work with you to ensure they are met.

NVision provided a succinct, entirely inclusive workshop about the diversity of First Nations, the complexities of Métis and the uniqueness of Inuit. The presenter created a space where individuals felt safe to ask their questions and work through scenarios.

Jaime Morse - Educator, National Gallery of Canada

The Path met our needs brilliantly. The team was easy to work with and used a collaborative approach with Bird’s management to develop the course material and to provide a range of delivery solutions to fit Bird’s structure. It was a great experience.
